Participation at Tauranga Startup Weekend - Sustainable Development Goals
DESCRIPTION
Develop a platform to bring people with disabilities together and provide resources for them.
PROBLEM
The current system does not include people with disabilities.
OBJECTIVES
Karleigh is passionate about inclusion and advocacy and wants to channel her passion to make change happen for the benefit of people with disabilities.
HYPOTHESES
Enterprise is a useful tool to help solve large complex challenges, and provides a framework to take action.
PROGRESS
All actions steps are taken wearing autism with pride and educating others along the way.
IMPACT
Advocated for and lead the changes in our event delivery to be inclusive. This included creating our first ever quiet space for participants to take a break from their teams and disruptions at the venue, and providing for finger food requests.
OUTCOMES TO DATE
- Completed another Entrepreneurship programme with the Princes’ Trust
- Firm belief that ‘nothing should stop you from achieving your goal’
