Entrepreneur Spotlight: Kendra Stone
This month’s entrepreneur spotlight is a special one as we get to introduce the newest member of the Venture Centre team. Meet Kendra Stone, Project Lead.
Born and raised here in Tauranga, Kendra knew she wanted to pursue a career in helping people and sharing their stories. This led her to study Communications, majoring in Public Relations, and eventually she started her own photography business (Kendra Eden Photography).
“I know it may sound cheesy but I really feel like my heart is on fire when I think about helping people. One of my biggest strengths is being able to build relationships and bring people together. ”
Our path crossed with Kendra’s thanks to our mutual connection with Creative BOP. After connecting with Pascale (cofounder of Venture Centre), Kendra spent the next few months settling into the community.
This looked like meeting the team, participating in events and speaking at the Entrepreneurs Everywhere Meetup about her journey of taking her love for the creative arts (photography) and turning it into a business.
Kendra enjoyed being in the community and was drawn to apply for the job as Project Lead at Venture Centre.
“One of my favourite previous roles was working at BizDojo (coworking space) in Auckland as the Community Ambassador. So the opportunity to be back in the entrepreneurial community space in my hometown felt like it was meant to be.”
Joining us as the PoweringOn Project Lead, Kendra brings her creativity, desire to do good and fresh perspective to the role.
“Building my own business has grown my confidence immensely. I realised that I have value I can offer people that makes a difference. This is a huge part of why I feel so passionate about working with Venture Centre, because we help people gain confidence as they pursue their own business.”
Kendra will spend a majority of her role helping businesses embrace digital with the help of the PoweringOn Digital Assessment.
“It would have been really cool for me to have a programme like PoweringOn when I was starting my business. I know I’ll enjoy getting to know people and see their success through the PoweringOn Assessment and involvement in the Venture Centre community.”
